Archive

The archive contains reports on the results of geological works and geological documentation in written form (text, graphics, digital form) or physical form (samples, drill cores, thin sections etc.). It also includes a register of mineral deposits containing, among other things, decisions on approvals of reserves, delimitation of protected areas of deposits, statistical statements etc.
In recent years, digital copies of written documents have been made and a digital archive is being established.

CGS-Geofond is obliged to collect and provide data:

  • on geological conditions
  • on the protection and use of mineral and groundwater resources
  • on potential geological risks as stipulated in §17 par. 1 of Geological Works Act No. 62/1988 Coll., as amended
  • as stipulated in Act No. 123/1998 Coll., on the right of information on environmental issues

The obligation of the geological works‘ contractors and organizations to forward the results of geological works and geological documentation to CGS-Geofond is stipulated in § 12 of the Geological Works Act No. 62/1988 Coll., as amended. This concerns more than a hundred companies that provide several thousand reports annually. Another source of both reports and geological samples are the archives of organizations involved in geological exploration now facing dissolution.

Written and graphic documentation and geological samples are added to the archive for permanent storage, after factual and graphic document processing.
